Novo Selo – Novo Selo
18th day

This morning T and Beast left early, Thorqui and I stayed home feeling very relaxed, and I took the opportunity to catch up a bit on the blog because I'm quite behind π₯

I told you yesterday that this place is wonderful. Except for the occasional truck passing by on the road to the quarry across from us, all you can hear here are the frogs and the little lambs that came to my door this morning to say good morning π.
The sun rises very early here; by five in the morning, it's already peeking over the mountain. We've positioned Thorqui so that we can see the sunrise from the room, and you can't imagine the strength of the light that comes in and the clarity it brings.

Emilia and Lina, her mom, stopped by to see how we were doing before heading out for a walk. Living on the property are Marco, his wife, and their daughter. He works at the municipality of Podgorica, the capital of the country, which is about fifteen kilometers from their home.

Durmitor National Park is located in the northwest of Montenegro, featuring forty-eight peaks over two thousand meters and eighteen glacial lakes. The name is believed to come from the word βdormirΓ©β meaning "I will sleep," alluding to the tranquility of its mountains or from Romance languages in the area. It is situated between the Piva and Tara rivers, and among its canyons is the Tara Canyon, which is the deepest in Europe.

It is a paradise for skiers and also has important hiking routes. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list for its geological and biological value. Durmitor is considered a natural gem and essential for the country.
From where we are staying, we can see the snow-capped peaks in the distance. The journey for them has been super exciting; they reached temperatures of four degrees. Along the way, they encountered the typical houses of the National Park; wooden and stone cabins, known as katuns, which look absolutely rustic, but apparently are super modern and comfortable inside π°.

The main access road to the park is the city of Zabljak, which leads into a scenic road that surrounds the park.
Lake Niegro, of glacial origin and emerald-colored waters, reflects Mount Medjed and one of its most emblematic attractions once you leave behind the path, which is narrow and steep; although it is paved, it becomes more complicated, and Thorqui and Beast dove right in despite the increasing snow on the road π€

The route is famous among motorcyclists, so traffic can get dense, but today T was quite lucky in that regard ποΈπ΅. The problem came when, in his eagerness to push forward, he got stuck and couldn't move either forward or backward π. It took him a long time to get it out of there.
After the mishap, they turned back to return to the village and have a coffee π, and since they had been on the road for a while, they decided to take the beautiful way back.

Thorsten returned home exhausted but delighted with the experience. Although this trip has breathtaking scenic roads, climbing some mountain passes is a plus π», and this one in particular, besides being on his list from the beginning, was recommended by some Spanish motorcyclists we chatted with the other day in Ston.

The Bozidar Zugig bridge spans the Tara River, crossing its deep canyon to connect two towns. Visitors have a custom of leaving a sticker on the sign that announces it to the point of completely covering it π. In fact, this happens in many tourist spots associated with cyclists and motorcyclists.

The place offers traditional food, and today we opted for it. We like to try the typical food of the place we visit at least once. Tonight, they served us fresh cheese with pickles and a meat stew with potatoes and sour cream π―. The flavor was delicious because everything was super spiced; for my taste, the meat needed a bit more cooking.
Good nightβ¦ Iβll keep you updated π
