Arrival in Palermo after Thorsten's early excursion to the Torre Bennistra, settling into an urban garden, and the first stroll through the historic center of the Sicilian capital among monuments, lively streets, and an impromptu dinner with fellow travelers.
The village of Scopello is located on a small cliff, and from the outside, it gives the impression of being a wild and rural place still very much attached to past traditions. Its name derives from the Greek "Skopelòs," which means rock.
After the rocky marathon we had yesterday, today we craved total calm by the sea, so we headed that way ☺️. On the way, we stopped at La Scala dei Turchi or the Stair of the Turk, about half an hour from where we spent the night.

Caltagirone is the most flourishing town in the province of Catania. It is also called "Queen of the Mountains" because from the heights of its three hills there are spectacular views of the surroundings.

This morning the four of us set out for Syracuse. They are traveling like us, taking the route as they go. They have been on the road for two weeks and have a couple more to go.
